Office Home & Student is a software package developed by Microsoft Corporation. It enables access to the most popular applications of the Office suite for one user on a single device without the need to take out an Office 365 subscription.

Office Home & Student is designed to appeal to casual home users and students. The applications that are included in the package reflect this, and it provides full access to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote. These applications are all the recent 2016 versions, and have many new features, such as brand-new design tools for PowerPoint.

Word is a word processing application that has a range of features for creating and editing documents. Office Home & Student, on the other hand, only requires users to make a one-off purchase and it has a more modest selection of applications which do not update.

Outlook can be added to MS Office Home & Student by purchasing a standalone version. While this will work alongside the other Office applications, there may be some limitations when it comes to integrating all Office programs. This will prove a problem, for example, if you have set a custom theme and layout for your Office applications.

Users will need a machine with a 1 GHz processor and 2GB RAM, and it should be running the Windows 7 or above. 3 GB free disk space is required for installation, while extra is recommended to process temporary files. It is also necessary to have an up-to-date web browser.

Office Home & Student is compatible with both PC and Mac and supports full-functionality between devices. There may, however, be slight differences between versions of the applications, as Microsoft has tailored their software specifically to achieve the best performance on each kind of device.
